New All Time Low CD Review

So All Time Low released a new CD the day after Panic! broke up. The CD is entitled Nothing Personal, and has 12 thrilling tracks. Each track sounds unique and no two have the same feel. As soon as you pop that CD into your player your welcomed by a fairly familiar song, Weightless, which was released weeks earlier as one of their singles for this album. I personally love the lyrics and pop-inspired rhythmic guitars. It is a great song that so many high school age teens can relate to. That's the thing with All Time Low; They know how to relate to their fans.
Next we have the song, Break Your Little Heart. This song reminds me so much of So Wrong, It's Right. It is my personal favorite on this album. The lyrics just beg you to sing along, and plus the beat is so catchy. And as an added bonus, the album title is found tucked in the lyrics of this great song ( You were fake/ I was great/ Nothing personal ). Another familiar tune is found next on the line up.
Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't was also released as a single. This song just like the one before has the reminisce of So Wrong and its chorus is so damn catchy. This song also highlights Gaskarth's vocals.
Next we're greeted by Lost in the Stereo, which paints us a very complex picture. I personally love songs that tell us a story and this one not only has amazing lyrics, but amazing instrumentals. You'll definitely be tapping along to this song! The next song drew me in with its opening words.
Stella is about being drunk. You might think "Stella" is a girl ( just like Holly and Maria from So Wrong ), but Alex is really singing about a beer brand Stella Artois. This song also shows off Gaskarth's vocal range.
On the other hand Sick Little Games is all about suffering and sorrow and the music gives that sad yet hopeful aura. I feel that alot of fans will connect with this song, because we all go through hard times.
Next we have Hello, Brooklyn. This song is one of the best ones on this album in my opinion. It's basically about how the world's going to end, but we can look forward to the party. I love the guitar in this song, theyre so clean and polished. Plus as an added bonus, Alex's voice sounds extra good :)
Walls is a new kind of All Time Low. Its very electronic, and that isnt a bad thing, since the old All Time Low we all know and love can still shine through. The electronic beats make this catchy song even better.
Too Much is a very unique song. Once again electronic beats are present. I feel that it is a little too slow and the hook wasn't very effective. I feel they could have used guitars and drums, instead of just electronic. Other than that I loved the simplicity of this song.
Keep The Change, You Filthy Animal is such a funny little song. I love the title and it sure drew me it. Listen to the lyrics, there's so many different ways to interpert them, which i love. I loved the bridge in this song, it was one of the best on this album.
Nearing the end of the album we have Party Song ( Walk of Shame ). This song has a twist on their old music and fans will totally buy into it. The lyrics are well planned out, and Alex's voice once again is highlighted. They did a very good job on this track.
Lastly we have the song Therepy. Unlike the other slow song on this album, Therepy has no electronic beats. It was a nice ending to a great album; it kind of wrapped up the whole message that I think All Time Low was trying to get across to their fans. That hey, life can be hard but make the best of it. This song has no competition at all. Alex's voice is perfect, Rian's drumming draws you in, and Jack and Zack's rhythms dominate. Basically, this album is the summer soundtrack, hands down. Props to All Time Low for making their best album yet.

Panic! 's Startling News Makes Fans Panic

So I hate Mondays, as many people do, but i especially hated this Monday. This Monday one of my favorite bands, Panic! At The Disco broke up. "Ryan Ross and Jon Walker will be leaving Panic at the Disco to embark on a musical excursion of their own," stated the Panic! At The Disco website. So apparently those two will be working on a project, though it was unclear whether they will be doing this project together, or seperately. They say the reason that Jon and Ryan will be leaving is, because "Our goals were different and that parting ways is truly what is best for each of us." Is that really the true reason? Or just a coverup for some big fight they had? And I personally thought that if someone left Panic! it would have been either Spencer and/or Jon, not Ryan, since Ryan and Brendon always seemed to be very close. So I guess no more gay inuendos... no more Ryden. :( So the lead guitarist (and lyrical genius) and the bassist, have left leaving Spencer (drums) and Brendon (lead singer/guitarist) to preform and release music under the band name, Panic! At The Disco. The website also stated that "All touring and album plans for Panic will continue as previously announced." Does this mean that all four will be touring as Panic? Or will it just be Spencer and Brendon?

So then i popped open the Panic! website the next day, and guess what? A new update. It was from Brendon and Spencer, and they basically said they were going to continue the Panic! spirit by continueing the plans for the tour and by releasing some new songs soon. They must have guessed that many of us would fall of the bandwagon as soon as the band breakup, becuase they stated they "hope you continue with us on this incredible ride". They sounded so hopeful and happy even though many of the fans have fallen into a musical depression. They tried to cheer us by saying things like "Pay attention we have a surprise in store for you," and "we were cleaning out the practice space and you’ll never guess what we found!". They're like the parents saying, "Kids, mommy and daddy are getting a divorce, but we're going out to ice cream!!" Unlike drooly little kids, these fans wont be distracted and convinced everything will be fine and the same as it was before by a fancy little lures like new music and whatever they found rotting in their practice room.

So Panic! are you happy? Leaving us with close to no explanation for your splitting up? You will lose fans, I garuntee it. And if this is a publicity stunt, this isnt funny. First you strip your fans of your "!" now Ryan and Jon? Dont be too surprised when your fans strip you of their playlists.

Band Review: Sail By The Stars

I decided my first review would be of the unsigned band, Sail By The Stars. This band was featured in AP's June 2009 issue. I listened to their album A Sunshine State Of Mind. The first song I listened to was, Icebergs Are For Penguins. I love how they go from humble acoustic guitar to full-fledge pop punk music. It added alot of personality to their songs. The lyrics were well-planned and used alot of comparisons. I feel that alot of high school aged teens will be able to relate to their songs, because the members of the band put alot of emotion into the songs. The choruses of their songs draw you in and make you want to sing along. They sound like an early The Maine and Nevershoutnever! with a full band. The instrumentals sound amazing. The guitars arent screechy and the drum beats are very catchy. The only downfall of this band is the lead singer. His voice can be very annoying, obnoxious, and whiney. Though for split seconds in their song, Once Upon A Time, he sounds like Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy.

The Breakdown
